Therapeutic Class Antiarrhythmic Agents Antihypertensive Agents
  Structure

Mechanism of Digoxin-Nisoldipine Interaction (Severity Level: Moderate)
Decreased renal excretion (Unspecific) Click to Show/Hide Mechanism Graph
      Drug Name Digoxin Nisoldipine
Mechanism Digoxin Reduce the renal excretion of digoxin
      Key Mechanism Factor 1
Factor Name Pharmacokinetics
Factor Description Alters the excretion of the drug, resulting in changes in the plasma concentration of the drug and affecting the pharmacological effects.
      Mechanism Description
  • Decreased renal excretion of Digoxin caused by Nisoldipine

Recommended Action
Management Serum digoxin levels should be checked when clinically necessary. Patients should be advised to notify their physician if they experience signs of digoxin toxicity such as nausea, anorexia, visual changes, slow pulse, or irregular heartbeats. If digoxin toxicity is suspected, digoxin dosage should be withheld or reduced.
